Our Move…

So, last Friday we moved. We moved a whole 7 minutes from our last place, but it feels like a world apart.

Moving day was crazy busy, but thanks in no small part to my bro Michael and his awesome wife Laura, it all went off without any major disasters. We had a moving team to do the heavy lifting, and were packing all the way up to a half hour AFTER we were supposed to be out of our old house.

Funny, its the first time that I’ve left a house without major pangs of sadness. Even places that I’ve hated I always felt nostalgic about leaving. I mean, there are only a few things in your life that have as large a role of setting the “tone” of your day to day existence as where you live. Family, faith, job and where you set yer butt down at night – its a small list.

So, I was surprised that I felt very little regret about leaving our old digs – don’t get me wrong, it had its share of troubles. From day 1 it was a PITA, but it was also our first home in LA, and the home that my first child was born in, etc. While we aspired to better, we did love the place and it truly felt like home.

Ah.. See, its just a delayed reaction – NOW I’m nostalgic. Damn blog… :^P

Anyway, we are all moved in and boxes abound. My AWESOME painter has scraped all the acoustic ceiling off every room in the new place. Man, was that a mess! And, rooms are slowly starting to be painted and finished, which is nice. Why, oh WHY did we decide to paint every surface during our move?

Tally so far: 41 gallons of paint and primer, 15 gallons of joint compound and a whole crap-load of painter’s plastic. Gosh, I’m really tired of painter’s plastic!

I’ll post some new pics of stuff as they get finished…

So, that’s news from LA… Happy Easter to All!
