Give This to a Vet
Not that Michael Yon needs mentioning on my blog, but I can’t help it. If you want an account of the war in Iraq and want to leave feeling like you were there, you’ve got to read some of his posts from when he was embedded with the Deuce Four in Mosul. My friend Phil from A Soldier’s Diary pointed out this post as one of Yon’s best.
Yon is now selling an iconic photo from his tour in Iraq, and has made them available directly from his blog. I think the picture speaks for itself. People can argue politics up one side and down the other, but they can’t deny that heroes fill the ranks of our armed forces.

Read the full story of the picture here.
I hope Yon doesn’t mind that I’ve posted his work here, and I hope you support him by buying a picture – I’m certainly going to. Even more though, I hope you give this picture to a Veteran to let them know how much you appreciate the sacrifice that was made for your freedom and protection.
God bless them, every one…

What must it be like to be there, all the killing of their freinds with the US telling them they’re doing the wrong thing and then seeing all of the death they do. Oh wait, I just described Vietnam!
Children dying is a horrible thing to see whether they are Muslim, Christian, Buddist or Shinto, there is nothing good about it.
What frustrates me, is that if you read the full story of the picture. The soldiers were on patrol, and the kids were crowding around them, hoping to get some candy or something. The bombers could have waited until the children were gone and done the same thing – not that I condone that at ALL – but at least they wouldn’t have hurt the children.
The fact is that most of the terrorists there don’t care about Iraq or its people – most of them are foreign fighters. Those that are Iraqi are mostly Sunni and couldn’t care less about killing a few Shiites who happen to get in the way – even if they are children.
Its a terrible thing…
