The soldiers were on patrol, and the kids were crowding around them, hoping to get some candy or something. The bombers could have waited until the children were gone and done the same thing - not that I condone that at ALL - but at least they wouldn't have hurt the children. The fact is that most of the terrorists there don't care about Iraq or its people - most of them are foreign fighters. Those that are Iraqi are mostly Sunni and couldn't care less about killing a few Shiites who happen to get in the way - even if they are children. Its a terrible thing... Oh wait, I just described Vietnam! Children dying is a horrible thing to see whether they are Muslim, Christian, Buddist or Shinto, there is nothing good about it.
