2009 Lincoln MKX - aka DROOL
Auto lust is in the air, and it seems to be spreading.
Could this car get me to buy American again? Just maybe. Its a technophile’s playground.
Now, don’t get on my case about NOT buying American. These days, my US assembled ULEV Honda is more of an American car than your average Mexican built Chrysler. And, I’ve more than paid my dues with my other car, a 10 year old Cadillac SLS. Its the second Caddy I’ve owned, after the first one died on me in roughly a year. Never again! Should have thought of that before getting my current one! Ha!
The biggest question with the Lincoln is, will I fit in it? Well, OK - that’s probably second to will I ever be a non-cheapo and actually buy it? Probably not.
*SIGH* Being fiscally responsible really sucks.

Well, as you reminded me, you can always make more money. That and there is a difference between “fiscally responsible” and “painfully frugal”.
Of course, that said, I would not be able to afford the MkS either, so no worries.
Some of those nifty little gadgets and gizmos cause me a little concern, though… Like the keyless entry - Nissan had the same thing, and they basically described it that if you were within 20 feet of the car or so, it identified the fob, and then you could push the button to unlock it and then just push the start button to start it. My immediate thought was, “Yeah, and so can someone else.” Then I am not so sure the American driver needs more distractions in the cockpit… I know they are all voice-controlled and Sync’d and all that nonsense, but still…
Either way, it is a shiny car, and there is certainly no way around that :).
“Painfully frugal” - yeah, that’s a good description. Actually, stupidly, I’m a pendulum sort of guy. I buy nothing until I can’t stand it anymore, then I buy a ton of things and regret it, so I clam up again. How else can I explain buying 2 cadillacs in 2 years??? DUH!
Also, I have similar concerns about the gadgets - not that it would be a distraction - me looking at my iPod and trying to change the FM transmitter signal because I’m getting static is WAY more dangerous! :^) I’m worried about them breaking. If I get this car, I will have it for a decade and crap will break.
What worries me is that one part breaking will 1) have a huge chain effect on all the gizmos and 2) cost a ton of money to fix.
I should probably just buy a Nissan Maxima and be done with it.
What I’ll likely do though, is just continue driving my Caddy. *SIGH*
I can’t wait until I get stupid again and go on a buying spree! haha…
You’re too cheap to buy a new car. You’ll drive that damn hot-air blowing /air conditioner car until the floor falls through and you run around like Fred Flintstone with your feet hanging through the floor.
*SIGH* Guilty as charged…
